ORIENT & HP EVENT ON DESKTOP VIRTUALISATION

ORIENT & HP has organized an event on Desktop Virtualization on 20th October, 2010 in Hotel Orchid, Vile Parle. The event was called “ Rethink The Desktop” & attended by more than 40 prestigious customers viz. SIDBI, INTEGREON, PARLE AGRO, etc. & Executives from INTEL, HP and ORIENT.

The event was started late because of traffic at 7:15 p.m. Mr. Mahadev Tejuja has delivered excellent presentation on Orient Company Profile & IT Challenges for CIOs. Mr. Shashi Pawar took from there & explain how Desktop Virtualization can reduce most of the pain areas of CIOs. Both these presentations made aware to customers that how Orient can bring value in their IT Infrastructure arena.

Then HP Presales Consultant explained various Technologies involved in Desktop virtualization from CITRIX, MICROSOFT & VMWARE. How to size the performance & storage requirements. Mr. Praveen Kulkarni of HP has explained the Return on Investment of Desktop Virtualisation.

Benefit of Desktop Virtualization
The shared resources model inherent in desktop virtualization offers advantages over the traditional model, in which every computer operates as a completely self-contained unit with its own operating system, peripherals, and application programs. Overall hardware expenses may diminish as users can share resources allocated to them on an as-needed basis. Virtualization potentially improves the data integrity of user information because all data can be maintained and backed-up in the data center. Other potential advantages include:
1. simpler provisioning of new desktops
2. reduced downtime in the event of server or client hardware-failures
3. lower cost of deploying new applications
4. desktop image-management capabilities
5. longer refresh cycle for client desktop infrastructure
6. secure remote access to an enterprise desktop environment
Desktop consolidation through virtualization provides numerous benefits, however in order to fully exploit the potential that exists, key components must be included in the solution architecture and implemented appropriately.
Abstraction through the use of personality, profile, and application virtualization provides the capability to fully decouple all key components of the user environment from the underlying desktop operating system. Establishing this layer of abstraction in addition to optimized management of parallel I/O is key to a successful virtual desktop infrastructure design.

Intel representative has explained how various processors will help Desktop virtualization.

Finally, Mr. Navnit of Orient has given vote of Thanks to all customers & participants. Then entire session was opened for Networking & Cocktail and Dinner.

We also need to thank Ms. Nutan Tandel for arranging such a wonderful & successful event.
